Orthodontic Assistant (OA)

Are you located in Encino, Downey, or the surrounding areas of California and are looking to become an Orthodontic Assistant?

The Valley School for Dental Assisting's Orthodontic Assistant course prepares students to successfully pass their permit exam while teaching them the basics of working in an orthodontic office. During this six-week course approved by the California Dental Board, students will learn how to treat patients through orthodontic assisting techniques by lecture and hands-on instruction.

Each Student Receives:

24 hours of lecture

28 hours of clinical/lab experience

32 clinical hours

16 hours of internship

Upon completing our Orthodontic Assistant program, students will be competent in the permitted duties of the Orthodontic Assistant and will receive a certificate of completion. This makes students eligible to take part in the Orthodontic Assistant Permit Exam.

As of January 2010, the California Dental Board requires that Dental Assistants who are working in an orthodontic office and/or are performing the daily duties of the Orthodontic Assistant hold an Orthodontic Assistant Permit.

The California Dental Board requires that every applicant seeking an Orthodontic Assistant permit complete a Board Approved Orthodontic Assistant Course.
