| Registered Dental Assistant I Part Time Temporary FTE 80% HOMELESS – LAFH, North Hollywood, CA, US Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for providing the patient with high quality care by performing a variety of office, laboratory, and patient care duties. The RDA assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures by preparing patients and handling instruments and materials. The RDA also performs many other tasks including clinical infection control procedures, maintaining, and ordering materials/supplies, cleaning and disinfecting operatories, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, maintaining equipment, taking x-rays, educating patients and other duties as allowed under the California state law under the licensing of RDA. Qualifications: 1. Registered Dental Assistant license issued by the Dental Board of California. 2. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant 3. Sealant Certificate: • New hires: Required. • Existing RDA at NEVHC: Required* *Note: Business and Professions Code Section 1752.6 states in part that “A registered dental assistant licensed on and after January 1, 2010, shall provide evidence of successful completion of a board-approved course in the application of pit and fissure sealants prior to the first expiration date of his or her license that requires the completion of continuing education as a condition of renewal”. All Registered Dental Assistants must meet the following additional requirements: 1. Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance with corporate CPR Policy. 2. Computer skills in electronic dental/health record systems, and database systems. 3. Fluency in English (speak, read, and write). 4. Fluency in Spanish (speak, translate, read, and write) is required. 5. Ability to work effectively as a team player. 6. Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment. 7. Basic leadership skills. 8. Ability to work effectively as a team player. 9. Effective work organization skills. 10. Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among members and staff. 11. Ability to solve problems and make routine recommendations. 12. Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles. 13. Demonstrated ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision. Self-starter, reliable and dependable. 14. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He or she is able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients. 15. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information. 16. At Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC) we recognize that we are part of the service industry and this starts by taking care of our employees. NEVHC offers benefits to eligible employees (based on hours worked) in an effort to help keep staff and their families healthy. Vacation, sick leave and holiday benefits are extended to employees who work part time and are prorated based upon hours worked. Vacation: Full time regular non-provider employees working 40 hours per week are entitled to take vacation time according to the following schedule: 1 to 3 years of service—10 days 3+ to 6 years of services—15 days 6+ years or more of service—20 days Sick Leave: Twelve days of sick leave are earned per year. Sick days may be used for doctor appointments for yourself or a family member. Holidays: NEVHC observes eleven and a half paid holidays per year; clinics and offices are closed on all major holidays. One floating holiday is earned each year, which may be taken at any time with manager approval. Medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits are available for employees who work 50% time or more. All of these benefits are effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Medical: Medical coverage is offered through Kaiser Permanente (no charge for employee; company contribution towards premium for dependents) or PacifiCare HMO (no charge for employee; company contribution towards premium for dependents). A PPO plan is offered through United Health Care; this plan is not paid by the company. Dental: Dental services are offered through California Dental Network HMO (no charge for employee; dependents may be covered with a minimal premium). Vision: Vision care is offered through EyeMed, which uses Lenscrafters/Eye Exam 2000 (no charge for employee, dependents may be covered with a minimal premium). Disability and life insurance benefits are available for employees who work 75% time or more. These benefits are effective the first of the month following the successful completion of the 90-day “Get Acquainted” period. Disability Insurance: NEVHC subscribes to a short- and long-term disability program that coordinates with State Disability and pays approximately 2/3 of the monthly salary during a period of approved disability. Life Insurance (Standard Life): NEVHC offers term life insurance and pays out at 1.5 times the annual salary to the designated beneficiary. Life insurance is offered at $2,000/dependent child(ren) life and $5,500 for spouse life. The pension plans and flexible spending plans are available for employees who work 50% time or more: Pension Plan: NEVHC has a 403 (b) employer-sponsored pension plan available to regular employees. NEVHC contributes an amount equal to 5.5% of the employee’s monthly base salary towards this pension plan. Employees may make voluntary contributions through payroll deductions on a “pre-tax basis” up to the limits imposed by the IRS. Flexible Spending Plan: This plan allows employees to be reimbursed on a pre-tax basis for their out-of-pocket health care expenses (such as braces, co-payments on office visits, prescriptions, etc.) Pre-tax reimbursement is also available for dependent care expenses up to $5000 per year. There is no charge to the employee for this benefit. |
