Orthodontic Office Dental Assistant

We are a state-of-art office in Encino, California dedicated to providing exceptional orthodontic care and creating a welcoming environment for our patients. We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Dental Assistant / Office Coordinator. We are located in the heart of Encino, CA.

Job Description:

The Dental Assistant is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations and providing excellent customer service to our patients. This role involves a combination of administrative tasks, patient interaction, and coordination duties to support the overall functioning of the orthodontic office.

Patient Care & Interaction

Prepare Patients for Procedures: Ensure patients are comfortable, explain procedures, and answer questions.
Assist During Orthodontic Procedures: Hand instruments to the orthodontist, keep the patient’s mouth dry, and retract lips or cheeks as needed.
Take Patient Impressions: Use digital scanning to capture impressions for diagnostics and appliances.
Install & Adjust Orthodontic Appliances: Assist in placing and adjusting braces, wires, and other orthodontic appliances under the orthodontist’s supervision.
Educate Patients on Care: Instruct patients on how to care for braces or other appliances, including guidance on hygiene and dietary restrictions.
Clinical Duties

Sterilize & Maintain Equipment: Clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments and equipment for each patient.
Take and Process X-rays: Capture dental x-rays and process images as directed.
Inventory Management: Track and order necessary dental supplies, ensuring the office remains stocked.
Record-Keeping: Update patient records with notes on treatments, impressions, and x-rays taken.
Administrative Support

Schedule Patient Appointments: Coordinate appointments, handle rescheduling, and manage patient flow.
Billing and Insurance: Assist with billing, collect payments, and help process insurance claims.
Coordinate Lab Work: Manage the logistics of lab work, including the delivery and receipt of appliances and retainers.
Assist with Office Marketing and Patient Communication: Contribute to social media, newsletters, or email reminders for patient follow-ups.
Office Maintenance

Ensure Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, waiting areas, and ensure the office environment is organized.
Monitor Infection Control Protocols: Adhere to infection control standards to protect patients and staff, including regular sanitation practices.
These responsibilities ensure that patient care, clinical tasks, and office operations run smoothly, providing a safe and efficient environment for orthodontic treatment.

Qualifications:

– Must be enthusiastic to take responsibility, grow, and participate in all office activities as necessary.

– Minimum High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework or degree preferred).

– Previous experience in an orthodontic or dental office setting is highly desirable.

– Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

– Proficiency in using computers, software applications, and orthodontic practice management systems.

– Friendly and professional demeanor with a strong focus on patient care and satisfaction.

– Knowledge of orthodontic terminology and insurance processes.

– Knowledge of Social Media Platforms and marketing on Social Media a plus.

– Ability to speak multiple languages a plus.

-Familiar with Invisalign process and iTero scanners a plus.
