INTRO X-RAY CERTIFICATION

Certification Requirements: Current 8-hour Infection Control and CPR certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) prior to homework patient day.

This comprehensive beginner-level course is designed for individuals seeking to obtain their California X-Ray Certification, enabling them to take dental X-Rays in the state of California.

Who should enroll:

This course is ideal for aspiring dental assistants, career changers, anyone needing extra help with skill building and anyone interested in entering the dental field with a focus on radiography. No prior experience is required.

At the conclusion of the course, students will complete a final assessment. Upon successful completion, they will be awarded their California X-Ray Certification, officially qualifying them to take dental X-rays in compliance with The Dental Board of California state requirements.

Course Breakdown:

First Day

Lecture Session: In-depth coverage of the principles and techniques of dental radiography, including safety protocols, X-ray equipment handling, and California regulations

Second Day

Students will gain hands-on experience by completing two full-mouth X-rays (FMXs) and two bitewing X-rays (BWXs) on mannequins. Students will schedule their homework and final patient appointments at our facility.

Third Day

This day is designated as Homework Patient Day, during which students will bring in three patients to perform full-mouth X-rays (FMXs).

Final Day

Students will be given a written exam and a clinical exam of one FMX on their own patient. Upon successful completion, students will receive their California Radiation Safety (X-ray) Certificate and will be able to perform X-rays in a dental office.
